Joining a Sorority

Is sorority recruitment for you?

You may participate in recruitment as a freshman, or at any time you are enrolled full-time on your campus. Recruitment activities may include open houses, informal events, and/or formal events.

Do you have to participate in recruitment to join a sorority?

Each campus with national sororities has a collegiate Panhellenic Council that holds an annual recruitment period for sororities to meet and educate potential new members. Recruitment ends with chapters extending invitations to women to join.

Take the time to learn about the values, traditions, and programming of each sorority. Recruitment is the best time to participate in the mutual selection process that will ensure your best match.

What about alcohol and hazing?

All NPC-member sororities expect its members to obey all local, state and federal laws and to abide by their own policies and guidelines. Sororities have developed educational programming regarding not only the legal ramifications of underage drinking, but also the health effects on their bodies. Sororities have strict policies against hazing in any form. Stringent guidelines exist when hosting social events and, at no time, can chapter funds be used to purchase alcohol. If an incident does occur, the inter/national organization intervenes with disciplinary measure and further education to achieve a higher level of safety for members.
